Memory Foam Mattresses

Memory foam mattresses are useful mattresses that give excellent comfort and support for the body, and are now becoming more popular.

Temperature and pressure sensitive, they respond to body heat and pressure, so when you lie on the mattress, it moulds itself to your body shape for optimum support where it’s needed most. This gives all of your body the support and comfort it needs in the right places, while all the time ensuring that you are comfortable and have targeted individual support.

A memory foam mattress will evenly spready body weight across the surface to improve pressure relief and take stress off the joints, which also helps to reduce tossing and turning throughout the night. The mattress will only push down as deep as your body weight applies, which means you will have most support where you’re heaviest and the least support where you are lightest.

Sleeping on a memory foam mattres is ideal if you have lower back pain, as the foam construction helps to contour around your back, providing the right level of support and stress reduction for your back muscles.

This shape contouring means that it will make sure you sleep in the right position for your back muscles and won’t allow you to move into an uncomfortable or awkward position during the night.

When you get off a memory foam mattress, it will always reform itself to its original shape, which means it won’t stay in one position, and will change as and when pressure and heat is applied to give individual and targeted support each time.

Memory foam was originally invented by NASA in the 1970s although it was never used in space and this visco elastic polyurethane foam was then adopted by a Swedish foam company who decided to develop the foam further for the medical industry and eventually households in the 1980s.

Memory foam mattresses are now more popular because there are more people realising the health and comfort benefits of buying this style of mattress.
